Senior Minister
Brother John H. Dansby Sr.
Brother John H. Dansby Sr. serves as Senior Minister of Russell Road Church of Christ in Shreveport, Louisiana. Born February 15, 1938, in Fort Worth, Texas, he was baptized into Christ by Nokomis Yeldell in Abilene, Texas, during the summer of 1958.

Brother Dansby and his family moved to Shreveport in 1975 during a military assignment. He retired from the United States Air Force in December 1984 after 28 years of service, having attained the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. His decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with an oak leaf cluster, the Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, and the Army Commendation Medal.
His educational achievements include a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Louisiana Tech University, a Master of Business Administration earned in 1983, and a Master of Arts in General Counseling earned in 1988. Southwestern Christian College also awarded him an honorary Doctor of Laws degree.
Alongside his ministry, Brother Dansby has taught management, leadership, and communications at Wiley College, Louisiana Tech University, and Central Texas College. He has served as Director of Staff and Finance for the National Crusade for Christ, overseeing financial operations, television arrangements, hotel contracts, and other services supporting its evangelistic work.
His service includes membership on the Board of Trustees of Southwestern Christian College and life membership in the Air Force Sergeants Association.
Brother Dansby and his wife, Dorris Dansby, have four children: John II, Jarilyn, James, and Jared.
